My Word of the Year is...
Happy New Year, loves!
Each New Year’s Eve, I like to choose a word of the year to support my ambitions throughout the year. While I can make goals, I like having a word posted around my office and home that helps keep me focused and on track for what I want to accomplish. Even if I don’t make all of my goals, I’ll deem the year a success if I was able to live out the word I choose.
For example, last year - my word was intentional. I wrote it out on a card and put it on my desk as a daily reminder while I made my schedule, worked and planned vacations. I wanted to put true intention into each business (and personal) move I made, from the work I would create to how I would spend my money. And because of intentional choices, I was able to meet half of my big goals for the year: buy a new car, learn some Italian and travel to Italy. I also expanded my business from primarily photographing couples and weddings to more portraits, branding and product photography. While a couple of other goals I made for myself weren’t fully met (learning to do a handstand), I intentionally put effort into practicing yoga and strengthening my arm/shoulder/core muscles when at the gym.
All in all, I’d say 2019 was very intentional for me. Win-win!
Now, it’s time to choose a new word for this year. This time, I felt a strong connection to two words, but they fall in line with each other so it works. My word of the year is OPEN with BRAVE being a supporting word.
I want to be open to new ideas, inspirations and opportunities and I want to be brave enough to accept them. I want to make decisions not based on fear or from a too cozy comfort zone.
2020, let’s do this!
