My photoshoot today got rescheduled so I’m half torn between finding a model as spontaneous as I am or buckling down on more content creation in my (home) studio. Throwback Thursday already, huh? This gem deserves a re-visit because she’s not only bright, intelligent and beautiful, but her heart is so kind. Victoria’s put years into her studies, earning her title as a registered nurse at Seattle Children’s. 👩‍⚕️💛 Photographing her was so much fun as we wandered through her favorite spots at the campus she spent so much time at. After the beach, one of my favorite places to shoot are bright, white spaces with pops of plants or florals for color. Clean light, textured backdrops, open space. So hearts were definitely popping out of my eyes when I walked into the Prestwick Terrace at The Newcastle Golf Club as chandeliers hung above rows of white chairs. Such a beautiful wedding and event venue! 😍 I definitely recommend checking out the club if you’re in the market for a wedding venue.

When you picture what I do as a photographer - you probably envision me mostly taking photos and spending a lot of time editing at a computer. 📷
Which is 💯 percent accurate. But what you don’t see me doing as much is researching, journaling and sketching. I have notebooks filled in my sloppy half-cursive handwriting with my studies in light, color theory, posing, brainstorming, photoshoot concepts and ideas... Nothing is organized, but I love putting thoughts and ideas to paper before bringing them to life. ✨

Those moments before the couple sees each other on a wedding day are some of my favorite to document. So many thoughts running through their mind. Nerves are mixed in with excitement and that shows through different emotions in each person. Some are calm, some are hyped, some are silent... But it always changes when the palm of her hand meets theirs and suddenly you can see in their faces that nothing else matters as much.
